Lunch Session: Startup 2.0+ – David Hewitt: Johnny Mango’s Pita Cafe

Last year, serial entrepreneur David Hewitt took us through a unique food concept he was working on.  This year, David is back to tell us the continuing story of his newest venture.  David will take us on a journey of the pivots, successes and failures that went into the making of Johnny Mango’s Pita Cafe and his plans for the future.

Morning Session: Nick Moucha – “What the F&(% am I doing? And the other F word”

Have you felt stuck in life? Are you not wanting that job everyone says is perfect? Are you in business for your self and people tell you to give up? Maybe questions of ‘Why don’t you get a real job?’, ‘Why can you stay in a comfortable job or place?’ haunt you as you pioneer that path in life for yourself or as you forage for the fruits of life in business on your own.

What the F*ck am I doing is a segment focused on defining what you may feel is the undefined, working through the comments and questions of friends and relatives, getting your self out of the doldrums and regaining strength to start or restart, and beat down that self doubt.

Startup Grind is a global startup community designed to educate, inspire, and connect entrepreneurs. It is powered by Google for Entrepreneurs. We host monthly events in more than 100 cities and 42 countries featuring successful local founders, innovators, educators and investors who share personal stories and lessons learned on the road to building great companies. You should start a Chapter in your city! Our monthly fireside chat interviews, startup mixers and annual conferences provide ample opportunities to connect with amazing startups and the people behind them, tap into a strong support network, form meaningful connections and gain inspiration for the startup journey ahead.

1 Million Cups (1MC) is a simple way to engage entrepreneurs in communities around the world. Each week, the 1MC program offers two local entrepreneurs an opportunity to present their startups to a diverse audience of mentors, advisors, and entrepreneurs. Presenters prepare a 6 minute educational presentation and engage in 20 minutes of feedback and questioning after they present. Entrepreneurs gain insight into possible ways they can improve their businesses, gather realtime feedback, connect with a community that truly cares about their progress, and walk away feeling like they have advanced their business. The audience also learns a great deal from the presentations. Whether this is through passively listening or deeply engaging with the entrepreneurs, there is much to learn every week from these dynamic and diverse communities.

Throwback Thursday: BioAM Morning Coffee

The event that launched the BioAM movement is BACK for one more coffee during GEW 2014.  Jamie will bring everyone up to speed on the LIfeScience Alley conference as well as thoughts on the DMC’s Discovery Square initiative.
